As soon as the power fails, an APC Smart-UPS immediately provides emergency power to all connected devices. Since this happens automatically with an APC UPS, you prevent unwanted outages, for example, of a PC, server, or switch. With APC PowerChute Network Shutdown software, you can even automatically and gracefully shut down critical IT hardware when the UPS battery is almost depleted. This prevents data loss, downtime, and physical damage to the hardware.

Extend Runtime
By connecting external battery packs (SMX48RMBP2U), you can easily increase the number of minutes the APC SMX UPS can autonomously provide emergency power.
Several hours of runtime are even possible.

Security
In addition, a Smart-UPS protects connected devices from voltage spikes caused by lightning, among other things. This APC emergency power supply is ideal for use in (small) businesses.

Manage your Smart-UPS
Thanks to the pre-installed network card (ap9641), you can easily connect the APC UPS to the network. This way, you can remotely monitor and manage the UPS (SNMP), and the UPS can send a shutdown signal to multiple physical and/or virtual servers using the PowerChute Network Shutdown software.

PowerChute Network Shutdown
PowerChute Network Shutdown is a UPS management software that works with the UPS network management card to protect Windows, Linux, and Host ESXi as well as hyper-converged and virtual infrastructure*. In the event of a power outage, PowerChute can gracefully shut down your virtual machines, and the pre-configured startup sequence ensures they power back on.

Remote Management and Monitoring of Your Network
The network card can be remotely managed via the user-friendly web browser interface, the remote management software EcoStruxure™ IT (SFTWES1-DIGI), or another SNMP-compatible system. Tip: EcoStruxure™ IT also includes the functionalities of the support contract below.

Ease of Use
Physical buttons and an LCD screen allow for setting and reading basic functions.

Rack/Tower Convertible
The APC Smart-UPS SMX is convertible as a rack/tower. Since both the feet and the 4-post rack mount brackets are included, you can mount it in a rack (2U) or set it upright.

Extend Lifespan
The internal battery cartridge (APCRBC115) can be easily, safely, and independently replaced by the user. This is done without having to switch off the APC SMX1500RMI2UNC or connected devices. In this way, you can easily and cost-effectively extend the lifespan of the APC Smart-UPS and keep your devices always online.

Warranty Extension
The manufacturer's warranty for the SMX1500RMI2UNC is 3 years, with the exception of the battery, which has a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Both are extended by 3 years to 6 and 5 years respectively with the APC Service Pack (WBEXTWAR3YR-SP-04).

Switched Outlet Groups: Remote Restart and Staged Start
Thanks to Switched Outlet Groups, it is possible to configure phased/delayed power-on per UPS outlet group. This reduces the peak load of the UPS and brings it closer to the constant load, thereby limiting UPS oversizing.

It is also possible to reset a group of multiple UPS outlets and the devices connected to them. When using a network card (ap9640) in combination with Ecostruxure IT Expert (SFTWES1-DIGI), this is even possible remotely.

You can also avoid eliminating critical loads; this extends the runtime of critical devices.
